Currents and Tides showcases the work exhibited as part of MICAs Undergraduate Commencement Exhibition. The largest piece, titled Wisp, is created from approximately 30 19"25" hand cut pieces of paper. Once assembled, the paper undulated from the surface of the wall creating intricate shadows that create movement and depth in the work. The grey paper on the white wall creates an optical illusion at moments when the paper and wall blend into one another and the shadows seem like the physical paper.
The Current and Tide series deals with the positive and negative space that occurs when cutting forms out of a flat piece of paper.
